Murrebue is one of the many places in Africa you can go to enjoy a bit of kiteboarding and/or windsurfing. Located on the coast of the Indian Ocean, this location has something for riders of all levels, from the novice up to the expert.

The first thing you must know about Murrebue is where it is located. Let’s start from the top and work our way down. Mozambique is located in the southeastern part of Africa; its neighbors are Tanzania to the north, Malawi and Zambia to the northwest, Zimbabwe to the west and Swaziland and South Africa to the southwest. To the east it is bordered by the Indian Ocean.
In Cabo Delgado, Mozambique’s northernmost province, you will find the port city and capital of the province, the city of Pemba. Some 20km south (a 10-minute drive) of Pemba you will find Murrebue.

Now that you know where Murrebue is located, here are the other bits and pieces you need to know about this destination, should you decide to go there to do a bit of kiteboarding and/or windsurfing:

Wind
The best months to go to Murrebue for wind are June, July, August, and November. The following months cannot be classified as the best, but they can prove to be pretty good nonetheless: January, April, May, September, and December.

From November until February the winds blow from the NE. From May until September the winds blow from the SE. No matter if it blows from the NE or SE, the wind is cross shore. It is rarely gusty.

Water
As mentioned above, the conditions here are suited for riders of all levels, from the novice up to the expert rider. The novice rider will like that this is a very safe spot where he can get instruction. The advanced rider will appreciate the fact that this spot allows him to try out his first tricks. The expert rider looking for some fun will appreciate that this spot is ideally suited for bump and jump, wave, speed, and freestyle riding.

The water temperature varies between 25°C and 35°C. The skies are clear all year round, apart for the mild rainy season in January and February.
