Not to be confused with the Arctic waterway in the Qikiqtaaluk Region of Nunavut, Canada, Aston Bay is a town located in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. Aston Bay is Near Jeffreys Bay, which in turn is about 1 hour away from Port Elizabeth one of the largest cities in South Africa. After you land at the airport in Port Elizabeth, take a car ride to Jeffreys Bay, then ask for directions to Aston Bay. You will not have any problems finding the place.

All three locations are great windsurfing and/or kiteboarding destinations, but putting the spotlight on Aston Bay, here are the main bits and pieces you need to know about:

The best months to go to Aston Bay for wind are August, September, October, November and December. You can also go from January until May, but the wind isn’t as strong.

The wind in Aston Bay blows from the E and W (onshore and offshore); it can reach Force 10. The best wind direction is E.

The water conditions in Aston Bay are suitable for riders of all levels, from the novice who is just now picking up the basics up to the expert rider who just wants to have some fun.
From May until August you will need a wetsuit.
