One of the best windsurfing destinations out there is Maui, the second largest of the Hawaiian Islands. Nice weather, strong winds, and great waves make Maui a great place to enjoy a spot of windsurfing, kiteboarding, surfing, and other watersports.

There are several spots on the island of Maui where you can have some windsurfing fun. One of these is Jaws, a spot that is difficult to reach. You will need a proper off-road vehicle to get to Jaws; do not try it in a regular car. The trip will be worth it. The waves, especially in the winter time, are simply amazing. It is a sight you will not soon forget.

Fun fact: you can catch a glimpse of the waves at Jaws in the opening scene (YouTube link) of Die Another Day, the 2002 action adventure movie staring Pierce Brosnan and Halle Berry.

A few words about the general conditions in Maui now.  In the summer the wind blows at 20 to 25 knots while in the winter it blows at 18 to 22 knots. The wind is better in the summer, especially from May until September, but the waves are better in the winter. The wind in Maui generally blows from the NE. The average is of 25°C (77°F).
