Buzzards Bay Regatta 2019

Buzzards Bay Regatta 2019

Period: Aug 2 - Aug 4, 2019
Location: Dartmouth, United States

The 2019 Buzzards Bay Regatta nearly here, and with the coming of warm weather, sailors are making plans to attend. The big news is that Etchells world champion Steve Benjamin will be attending BBR in the Etchells class and will be accompanied by three teams from the Etchells Youth Team on their last tune-up before sailing at Cowes on the Isle of Wight where the team will be trying to return the Olin Stephens Trophy to the United States.

The venerable custom trimaran, SWAMP FOX will be returning in the NEMA Multihull fleet where it first competed in 1988. Skipper Don Watson Reports she is in “”better than new” condition. Skipper Ryan Walsh will be racing the J 44 SPICE with a New Bedford Yacht Club youth team and perennial podium finisher Ira Perry will be back racing SEEFEST in her home waters. BBR is also expecting a number of J 109s to come and race on the same waters where the J 109 North Americans, hosted by the New Bedford Yacht Club, will be held two weeks after BBR.

On shore, there will be a steel drum band, Island Style, on Friday night and the big band Blue Lobsta on Saturday night. Come for the shore parties. Come for the racing. Nowhere on the East Coast can you find better summer sailing than on Buzzards Bay. The event takes place between the 2nd and 4th of August, in South Dartmouth, MA.
