Luderitz Speed Challenge 2012

Luderitz Speed Challenge 2012

Period: Nov 5 - Dec 16, 2012
Location: Luderitz, Namibia

The Luderitz Speed Challenge is one of the most anticipated events in the world of Kiteboarding and Windsurfing. It represents a new dimension of speed sailing and it is an event known for setting new records each time it is held. The 2012 Luderitz World Speed Sailing attempt will last for six weeks: from 5th November till the 2nd of December for windsurfers and from 3rd December till the 16th of December for Kitesurfers. The event takes place in Namibia.

Organizers have prepared nearly two years for the competition that takes place this year. They have built a 300 meters canal away from the lagoon in the area, to make sure that competitors can race anytime, regardless of the tide. The canal also provides faster speeds in less wind.

Windsurfers will face Kiteboarders at the Luderitz Speed Challenge to prove which of them are faster. This event is not to be missed. Antoine Albeau, Finian Maynard, Robert Douglas, Sebastien Cattelan and Alexandre Caizergues are just a few of the windsurfers and kitesurfers that have set world records here and are expected to participate this year too.
