Luderitz Speed Challenge 2014

Luderitz Speed Challenge 2014

Period: Oct 6 - Nov 2, 2014
Location: Luderitz, Namibia

One of the most prestigious water sports competitions ever, the Luderitz Speed Challenge gathers the fastest kitesurfers and windsurfers in the world for an amazing speed sailing challenge. The world’s fastest riders are expected to compete for personal, national and world records.

This event takes place in the harbor town of Luderitz, in south-west Namibia, one of the least hospitable coasts in Africa, on a special canal that provides the perfect venue for speed sailing.

Alex Caizergues currently holds the world speed kiteboarding record at 56.62 knots, set in Salin-de-Giraud, but we bet that the guys competing in the Luderitz Speed Challenge are preparing to break it. After all, the Challenge established 11 world and 64 national records.

This year, the Luderitz Speed Challenge is set to take place sometime between the 6th of October and 2nd of November, but dates are subject to change, depending on weather conditions. To find out more about this event, please visit the official website.
