Naish Helix 2008 Kite Review
Kite Features
- Sigma shaped canopy for increased stability.
- The Geo-Tech technology ensures there is constant tension in the canopy.
- All internal Octopus inflation system (single-point system).
The Naish Helix is an SLE (Supporting Leading Edge) style kite which is available in these sizes: 5m, 7m, 9m, 12m, 14m, and 16m. In the world of kitesurfing (which is by the way an extremely young sport) new technological improvements are being discovered everyday. Those new technologies must be put to good use, and what better use than making a kite that appeals to all types of surfers? The Helix can be used in a wide (better yet huge) wind range and it really doesn’t matter who uses it because it is handles like a dream regardless if it is flown by a novice or a pro kitesurfer. It also doesn’t matter of that kitesurfer chooses to ride the waves or freestyle - the Helix is more than up for the challenge. The canopy is Sigma shaped and has been created using Geo-Tech technology. Consequently the canopy has a greater static tension, is incredibly stable and can turn remarkably fast. Added to that is the fact that the Helix is very responsive and it is a dream to relaunch.
Wingtip The Naish Helix has swept back wingtips, but the thing is that they go further back than any other model. The fact that the wingtips are swept back so much puts more force on the trailing edge. This in turn makes for faster turning. For more positive tracking torque is transferred to the leading edge. Inflation In order to get a more uniform strut pressure the Naish Helix uses a single-port inflation system. The air does not travel between the struts and the leading edge because there is a one-way internal valve preventing it from doing so.
Why you should get the Naish Helix:
- Offers loads of tuning options.
- You will be hard pressed to find a more stable kite.
- Handles very well in the upper end.
