The AWSI Kiteboarder of the Year is Damien Leroy

Colorado-born pro rider Damien Leroy has been recognized as one of the most important figures in kiteboarding. The rider won the 2011 Association of Wind & Watersports Industries (AWSI) Kiteboarder of the Year award, triumphing over all the other nominees. As a little reminder, the nominees for the AWSI Kiteboarder of the Year award were (in alphabetical order):

Damien’s main sponsor, kiteboarding equipment manufacturer Cabrinha congratulated him for winning the award and said that “Damien is truly one of kiteboarding's great ambassadors and an all around good guy. Cabrinha is stoked to have him as part of our team.”

Damien was stoked to get the award. He said he is honored that there are so many people out there who care about him and cast their votes for him. He added that he is completely humbled and will cherish this feeling and this award forever.
