The Bering Strait Kite Crossing – A Documentary

Located in the Northern hemisphere, the Bering Strait connects the Pacific and Arctic oceans between Russia and the U.S. state of Alaska. At its narrowest point the Bering Strait is only 85 km. It is one of the wildest places on earth, with icy waters and stormy winds.

It is no place for kitesurfing, but back in July 2011, two Russian kiteboarders ventured through the Strait and managed to overcome the tough conditions and crossed it by kite. They sailed for 7,5 hours without any assistance, in stormy and icy conditions.

Today, you can check out their incredible adventure in a short documentary that showcases the strength of dedicated riders. It is available below.
