Even Royal Heads Like to Kitesurf

As you may already know, Prince William got married to Miss Catherine Middleton at Westminster Abbey on the 29th of April. You may also already know that the newlywed couple spent their honeymoon in the Seychelles. What you may not know is that during their honeymoon, Prince William had a bit of fun out on the water – a bit of kiteboarding fun that is. While Prince William was enjoying the strong trade winds and the big waves the Seychelles are renowned for, his spouse relaxed and sunbathed. She seemed quite happy to just watch Prince William have fun; she didn’t try it as well.

It must be said here that Prince William’s father, Prince Charles, likes boardsports as well. Back in the late 70s, when windsurfing’s popularity exploded, Prince Charles gave the sport a try. In the picture presented below you can see Prince Charles windsurfing in Australia. The photo was taken back in August 1978, when Prince Charles was 30. Perhaps his Royal Highness will consider supporting windsurfing for the Olympic Games which will take place in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

So far Prince William gave surfing and kiteboarding a try. It remains to be seen if he’ll try windsurfing, bodyboarding or SUP next.
