Florian Gruber and Erika Heineken Claim the 2013 World Course Race Titles

More than 160 riders from over 40 countries gathered last week at King Bay on Hainan Island, China to compete in the IKA World Course Race Championship. The competition was tough and fierce, as every rider hid the best to claim the world title. It was a delight for the media and spectators.

In the Men’s division, Florian Gruber battled with the 2012 World Champion Johnny Heineken for the first place and managed to win. Both Johnny and Florian had superb championships with the first two days they both had bullets in all races, but Florian proved to be the better rider this year.

In the Women’s division, Erika Heineken had a flawless competition, she was riding in the strong 10m conditions way ahead of the fleet, coming in at times over 1:30 minutes in front of second place.
Both Florian Gruber and Erika Heineken were riding the Ozone Edge, so this is also a big win for all the guys at

Ozone Kiteboarding. KTA and China were excellent hosts and the entire competition was awesome.
