Is Foiling the Future? Florian Gruber Says Yes

German elite kite racer Florian Gruber won the 2015 Sailing World Cup Melbourne, proving once again that he is a great athlete. The Australian competition was a blast for the German. He won 14 out of 17 races, and it was probably the easiest gold medal of his career. He was followed by Martin Dolenc and Ric Black on the podium.

What is interesting is the fact that this could be the last Raceboard class event in which Florian takes part. The German rider confessed that he wants to focus on kite foiling from now on. Winning world class events with the hydrofoil board under his feet is the next stage.

And Florian considers that foiling is the natural evolution of classic kiteboarding: “Foiling is the future. It's the fastest thing on the water. Let's see what the decision is for the 2020 Olympics. If it's the race board, I'll be back in Melbourne on a race board.”
