John and Erika Heineken Nominated for the ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year Awards

The ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the YearAwards is the highest award a sailor can receive in recognition of his/her outstanding achievements. Every November the Awards are presented to one male and one female winner.

Recognized as the pinnacle award a sailor can receive in recognition of his/her outstanding achievements by the world of sailing, the Awards are presented to sailors by sailors.

The Awards Presentation is attended by the world’s top sailors, the leaders in the sport around the world, sponsors and other eminent guests and the winners are announced on the night of the presentation, when they receive the prestigious award and a Rolex timepiece.

The International Sailing Federation and Rolex announced the nominees for the 2013 Rolex World Sailor of the Year Awards a couple of days ago. Kiteboarding fans will be thrilled to find out that John and Erika Heineken, the kite course racing champs, are among the nominees. The siblings dominated the scene of kiteoarding racing this year and are proud contenders for the Rolex World Sailor of the Year title.

The winners will be announced at the ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year Awards presentation and dinner, taking place on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at the El Bander Hotel, Muscat, Sultanate of Oman.
