Kiteboarding Will Not Be Part of the 2016 Olympics

After everyone thought that kiteboarding will make a new and perfect addition for the 2016 Olympic Games taking place in Rio, it seems that kiteboarding fans from all over the world are going to be very disappointed. After many speculations, the ISAF Council decided that Kitesurfing will not be present at the Olympic Games in Rio after all.

Windsurfing is back in business. The Decision to keep windsurfing in the 2016 Olympics was approved with 51.3% of the votes at the Annual General Meeting of the International Sailing Federation.

Sailing classes chosen by the ISAF Council for Rio de Janeiro 2016 are:

Men’s Board – RS:X
Women’s Board – RS:X
Men’s One Person Dinghy – Laser
Women’s One Person Dinghy – Laser Radial
Men’s 2nd One Person Dinghy – Finn
Men’s Skiff – 49er
Women’s Skiff – 49erFX
Men’s Two Person Dinghy – 470
Women’s Two Person Dinghy – 470
Mixed Two Person Multihull – Nacra 17
