Mauritius Kitesurf Festival - Kiteival

Mauritius (or the Republic of Mauritius as the authorities like to call it) is an island nation off the coast of the African continent in the southwest Indian Ocean, about 900 kilometers or 560 miles east of Madagascar. Mauritius is referred to as the “Star of the Indian Ocean” and for good reason – it offers safe beaches, gentle seas and mild tropical climate. Add to that the traditional Mauritian hospitality and you have one of the world's most sought-after holiday destinations.

If you are a regular holiday maker then going to Mauritius sounds like a good idea. But if you are a passionate kitesurfer, then you definitely must go to Mauritius. Why you ask? Because Mauritius will enchant you, will uplift your soul, will make you feel that you belong to the chosen few. And then there is the kitesurfing competition that will take place there at the end of July.

The Mauritian Kitesurf Festival is called Kiteival. This is the second edition and it is held between the 26th of July and the 4th of August 2008. The first Kiteival competition was held from the 1st to the 10th of July and 37 people participated.

The 2008 Kiteival competition is open to all kitesurfers, regardless of their skill level. Beginner riders can take advantage of this to meet and interact with the pros.
