The New Master of the Ocean Is...

The Master of the Ocean 2011 competition that kicked of earlier this month on the northern coast of the Dominican Republic has come to an end. Men and women alike competed in four disciplines, mainly surfing, SUP, windsurfing, and kiteboarding. They battled it out for the $10,000 grand prize and for the much coveted Master of the Ocean title. But before we find out who won the grand title, let’s see who came in first in the surfing, SUP, windsurfing, and kiteboarding categories:


  • Master Surf – Pedro Fernandez
  • Best Female Surf – Audrey Meyer
  • Future Master Surf – Eduard Santana Santo


  • Master SUP - Zion Balbuena


  • Master Wind – there was no wind, so the title went to the following 5 riders: Federico Arias Yilo, Arismendis Gonzalez, Franklin Mieses Montan, Luciano Gonzales, Antonio Chevalier. Tom Capellan Francisco was disqualified for unfair sportsmanship.
  • Future Master Wind – Nico Suriel.


  • Master Kite – there was no wind, so the Master Kite Title went to the following 6 riders: Josellito De lo Santo, Luciano Gonzales, Luis Alberto Cruz, Emmanuel David Rondon, Patrich Mendoza, and Jose Luis Hernandez.
  • Future Master Kite: Josellito De lo Santo

And now, the moment we’ve all been waiting for. The new Master of the Ocean is, drum rolls please, Luciano Gonzales.
