Riccardo Leccese and Ariane Imbert Sail to Victory in Melbourne

The inclusion in the ISAF Sailing World Cup was a great step forward for kiteboarding. And with little luck, we will see this incredible water sport included in the Olympics schedule in the near future.

The 2014 ISAF Sailing World Cup Melbourne, in Australia was the perfect stage for the fastest kiteboarders today to showcase their skills. Under clear skies and powered by consistent winds, they turned the waters of the Sandringham Yacht Club into the stage of fast paced action.

22 racers competed in the Men’s division. Riccardo Leccese proved to be the fastest of them once again, claiming his tenth consecutive race win of the series and the gold medal. He was followed by Florian Gruber and Ivan Doronin.

On the Women’s side, Ariane Imbert dominated the competition, winning the gold. She was followed by two Australians in the second and third places: Lisa Hickman and Gina Hewson.
