Virgin Kitesurfing Armada Aims to Break World Record

Richard Branson, the patron of the Virgin Kitesurfing Armada, together with more than 500 riders, will try to break the Guinness World Record for the largest parade of kitesurfers ever, riding the 15-mile course from Hayling Island to Pagham this fall.

In 2013, the event had 40 knots of wind, but in 2014 there was no wind except for two hours of 15 knots in the last weekend of the waiting period. But this year, win will be by their side, and there will be a proper festival with exhibition stands, kite gear, kitesurfing talks, film projections and more.

Here is what Richard Branson says: “We will be bringing kitesurfers together from far and wide in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record and raise thousands for charity, and I am really hoping to be there myself this year. So I hope to see you on the beach!”
