Who Is the 2013 Master of the Ocean?

Surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing and stand up paddle boarding, action and thrill, it all went down at Playa Encuentro, in Cabarete, Dominican Republic, as the Master of the Ocean has kicked off. The Master of the Ocean is one of the world’s most prestigious watersport competitions.

As the only competition of its kind, Master of the Ocean challenges the most skilled Surfers, Windsurfers, Kitesurfers and Subsurfers with extreme water skills and showcases the best of the Caribbean-Cabarete-Northshore-of the Dominican Republic.

Formerly known as the Iron Man of Water Sports, this event was created by German waterman Marcus Bohm with the aim to providing an opportunity for Dominicans and Dominican residents to compete side by side with international professionals. Today it is one the most complete events of this kind.

Last year, the overall winners were Jose Luengo, Emmanuel Rondon and Luciano Gonzales. The best girl was Audrey Meyer.

This year's event lasted one day, fact that probably disappointed many water sports fans, but we are sure that it was a thrilling challenge. All the action took place yesterday, on the 27th of February 2013, when Cabarete became the capital of water sports once again.

We are looking forward to see who succeeded in this year’s event and became the 2013 Master of the Ocean. Stay tuned to find out.
