Windguru Gets Updated
Windguru, the service specialized for forecasting weather and one of the most accurate weather sources of information about winds and waves, finally gets a much anticipated update. The service, mostly used by windsurfers, kitesurfers and sailors, was founded in 2000 by Vaclav Hornik and has remained unchanged since.
Well, the new service, still in beta test, is ready for the mobile revolution. It maintains the classic look, but it is mobile friendly and sports some new and useful features. It provides clickable table values, live wind measurements, graphical forecasts and more. As the founder says, there are new forecast maps (GFS-based one is now free for all) and the live data from Windguru stations are now part of the main site.
A quick word from Vaclav Hornik: “After months of hard work, many sleepless nights and few suicide attempts I can finally show you the beta of the new Windguru website. The main goal was to make it modern and mobile friendly while keeping all the features you like.”
