The new surf pro SUP boards introduced by Starboard in 2012 are the perfect machines for experienced and competitive riders. They are engineered with speed and fast response in mind, to suit the most demanding needs of pros. The 9'1"x29" Pro is the kind of board designed for ripping, as the Starboard team says. It has a rounded, slick outline and features a special nose and tail shape to help it glide fast and offer top maneuverability. The board has fair gliding and tracking abilities, but it is not very stable.

Its top features are speed and maneuverability, as stated. It is a board designed for skilled riders with a good balance. The special outline and rocker of the board make it suitable for riding larger waves. At the same time, the thinner low apex rails assure excellent response and control in waves. A continuous single concave hull design provides quick acceleration and allows the rider to engage the rail through a turn without hassle. The Starboard 9'1"x29" Pro is available in four models, depending on the construction technology.

The AST Candy and Silver boards are highly durable and have a moderate weight. The AST Silver version is equipped with foot straps and mast inserts, so it can be used as a windsurfing board if the rider wishes. The Wood model features Red PU painted ding-resistant rails and an impact resistant wood deck and it is a bit steadier. The Brushed Carbon model is built using a full deck and bottom wrap of high quality biaxial carbon and PVC foam structure and a light paint job to reduce weight. This is the most suited model for competitive riders, as it is extremely light and has the quickest response in the series.
