The new compact wave SUP boards introduced by Starboard in 2011 are designed with specific focus on maneuverability. The boards can handle most wave conditions and suit a large range of riders. The 2011 Pocket Rocket is one of the fast compact wave SUP boards. It has a short and refined outline which generates good acceleration and fast speed. The board is also able to maintain a good speed in variable wave conditions.

The board has balanced stability, gliding and tracking abilities and exceptional maneuverability. It is perfectly suited for riders that sail in onshore and mushier conditions. The compact shape of the board allows the rider to fit it in pockets without much effort. The board uses a fish tail design which assures excellent control in turns and perfect release. The nose is tweaked to allow the rider tackle the waves without hassle. The board does not have excessive volume, but the volume is well spread and keeps it steady to optimize the glide.

The mono concave nose to double concave back section assures a smooth drive in less than perfect wave conditions. The Starboard Pocket Rocket is constructed using Brush Carbon, Tac and Silver, Candy and Blue AST technologies, to suit the demands of all riders. The AST boards are extremely durable and have different deck pad and deck traction options, the TAC ones are built using a wood structure for better dynamic shape stability and the Brushed Carbon ones are lighter and have a more lively response, therefore fitted for more dynamic riders.
