New Zealand Stand Up Paddle Championships 2012

The 2012 New Zealand Stand Up Paddle Championships is a three day event which combines fun with competition. It is not just a simple SUP race, it is the place where competitors and participants come to enjoy races as well as many other entertaining activities.

The event starts on Friday, March the 30th and ends on Sunday, April the 1st. It takes place in Auckland. On Friday the participants can attend the King of the Harbour Friday Night Sprint Races, on Saturday they can attend the King of the Harbour Race and on Sunday the SUP Festival and NZ SUP Slalom.

The King of the Harbour Open Ocean Race will take place on one of the following courses, depending on weather conditions: Course A : Waiheke to Viaduct Harbour. Wind direction E Course B : Viaduct Harbour to Waiheke. Wind direction W Course C : Gulf Harbour to Viaduct Harbour. Wind direction N Course D : Viaduct Harbour to Gulf Harbour. Wind direction S The race is open to 12'6 Class and Unlimited Class and only to experienced paddlers.

The NZ SUP Slalom is open to the following divisions: 12'6 Class and 12'6 and Under Surfboard Class, Masters, Junior U16, Novice, Men’s and Women’s. The SUP Festival and NZ SUP Slalom take place at the Takapuna Beach Club. The participants can attend expos, workshops, paddleboard lessons and other activities.
