Oregon Open Ocean Classic 2014

Oregon Open Ocean Classic 2014

Period: Jul 12 - Jul 13, 2014
Location: Oregon, United States

The Oregon Open Ocean Classic is a challenging but fun 2 days event dedicated to all SUP fans. It is designed to test their determination and stamina in offshore and bay races. In order to simplify the event organization, all racers will be competing in the 14' board category.

Racers with smaller boards will be counted in the 14' category for awards and racers with boards longer than 14' are welcome to participate, but will not be counted towards the awards.

The ocean course is roughly 7.5 miles and each paddler will be able to create their own path within the basic race course guidelines. The La Mans start will be at Otter Rock State Park. The course rules will require paddlers to stay outside the reefs/islands North of Yaquina Head to assist the on water support team.

The paddle to Yaquina Head is roughly 4 miles. This is where the downwind action takes place. The Bay race is roughly 8 miles and will start just outside the S. Beach marina. Races provide participants with an opportunity to race in offshore, open ocean conditions one day, and then flat water conditions the next.

The Oregon Open Ocean Classic takes place on the 12th and 13th of July, in Newport. To register and find out more details, please visit the event website.
