Big Wave Surfing On Cyclone Irene Waves

Cyclone Irene has recently hit the coast of Durban, the largest city in the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal. Although the local authorities are not thrilled about this, the Cyclone has provided the perfect waves for some spectacular big wave surfing action.

As the Cyclone sent a huge 4.7 m swell into the Durban basin, a few daring tow surfers and paddlesurfers went out and started riding the massive waves. They performed spectacular maneuvers through the torrential rain and with dangers lurking with every wind blow.

Their amazing adventure was caught at tape.
