Cool SUP Destinations: Nepal’s Gandaki River

Water flowing through Tibet’s Kali Gandaki River Gorge begins its journey at 20,564 feet above sea level at the Nhubine Himal Glacier in the Mustang region of Nepal. It’s not holy water in the traditional dogmatic sense, but in a literal sense that’s about as close to heaven as standup paddlers are going to get on earth.

Judging from the journey taken by this crew of expedition paddlers led by the Adventure Consultancy on the Gandaki River, heaven isn’t far from the Gandaki. Travel with them through the backwaters of one of earth’s most majestic countries where they encounter friendly locals, roaming livestock, rickety foot-bridges and waterfalls galore. It just might inspire you to paddle some holy water of your own.
