Gillian Gibree’s Plans for 2012

Gillian Gibree is one of the most complete water sports athletes in the world. She has spent her life taking part in the most prestigious surfing and SUP competition and she has always performed great. 2011 was a busy year for Gillian. She started the Paddle Into Fitness clinics in Huntington Harbor and San Diego, she participated in the 36-mile charity race for the Boston Children’s Hospital, she competed in the SurfRace to Victory event and in the Los Cabos Classic, as well as in many other events. As Gillian states, the Paddle Into Fitness clinics was her biggest challenge in 2011.

Asked in a recent interview about her plans for 2012, Gillian Gibree said that she will rest during the winter and she will only surf for fun. This is not entirely true, since Gillian can’t really stay away from competitions and she will be part of Surfing America team at the Stand Up Paddle and Paddleboard World Championships in February. She will compete in the traditional paddleboard division.

Gillian hopes to travel a lot in 2012 and establish a few more clinics. This way she can meet interesting people and share with them her impressive water sports knowledge. She also wants to expand her SUP Yoga experience and share it with other enthusiasts, as she is one of the firs athletes to practice this discipline. Gillian’s plans also include taking part in world class surf and flatwater races as well as in several lifeguard competitions.
We wish Gillian all the best and we are waiting forward to seeing her amazing performances in 2012.
