Google SUP View

With the increasing popularity of SUP, it was time for tech companies to approach the ‘SUP method’ in their evolution. And Google made the first step in this direction. The guys at Google used a stand up paddler to capture its Street View imagery from new corners of the world.

Brazilian elite rider Caio Vaz was part of this project. He paddled around Gunabara Bay to help Google map out all of the Olympic venues ahead of the 2016 Games in Rio. It’s the first time a SUP has been used for the project.

Caio was equipped with Google’s Trekker device, weighting 13 kilograms and holding 15 cameras to create the 360 degree virtual view. His work will be available via Google Maps.
