The Trans-Atlantic SUP Project
The Trans-Atlantic SUP Project is an ambitious initiative by Chris Bertish, a well known ocean athlete. It is a daring try to standup paddle across the Atlantic Ocean. And, as Mavericks winner, Chris, says, there is no room for "can't" and "impossible" words in this project.
Chris Bertish is a regular of social and competitive SUP races. This initiative is intended to raise money to feed and educate starving kids in South Africa through the Lunchbox fund. It is also intended to raise awareness about conserving and protecting our world’s oceans. If he manages to succeed in this adventure, Chris will also achieve a huge Guinness World record. He will be the first to paddle 3250km across the North and South Atlantic oceans on a long-distance SUP.
Chris is supported by several renowned watermen like Simon Lowe, Mike Schlebach, James Tayler and Pieter Petersen. However, he needs further financial and nautical support to complete this amazing task, as he says: "We need more corporates to get involved. Oh and we need a boat, either a 46ft catamaran or bigger, and a monohull 65ft or bigger. We can pay, so talk to us about branding possibilities."
