Freestyle is one of the most spectacular windsurfing disciplines. Dedicated freestylers demand high performance gear to complement their amazing skills and help them enjoy an exciting windsurfing session. One of the most versatile freestyle boards today is the Starboard Flare. Quick acceleration, amazing planning performance, plenty of pop and accurate control are the key elements which make the Flare a board suited for freestyle champions.

The board balances the aggressive power it offers with smooth maneuverability and practically invites riders to try push their skills to a new level. The 2012 Flare board feature a compact outline which makes them snappier and assures improved maneuverability in a wider range of wind and wave conditions. They are engineered using a Wood Carbon technology which assures a stiffer flex and makes them more responsive. This technology also provides better pop for aerial tricks. The compact outline also assures better rotation speed and turn control. A thicker tail improves floatation and makes the board a bit more forgiving during radical maneuvers. The squared profile of the tail provides optimal release and improves acceleration.

Acceleration and top speed are also improved by the lower rocker line. This rocker also keeps the rider in control at all times and improves planning and upwind potential. The Starboard Flare features a special V bottom shape which assures a smooth water flow underneath the hull to optimize stability and assure a very fluid drive. The Flare is available in ProKids version too. The ProKids Flare is especially optimized for the input of a younger rider who demands top performance.

The 2012 use the Slot Box system which holds the fins with more pressure. This system is also lighter than the usual US box. The fins are now very easy to set in place. On water the board is loose and has good grip. Planes and gybes very well....more
