Red Bull Storm Chase – Mission 1

Red Bull Storm Chasers gathered in Brandon Bay, Ireland for the first mission of the Red Bull Storm Chase, the contest in which men compete against nature. With winds gusting up to 75 knots and 20 feet waves, Brandon Bay was the perfect setting for this daring contest.

The first two rounds were completed at the local spot called Dumps before the judges decided to relocate to Hell's Gate for the third and final round. Due to the extreme conditions, heats were limited to 10 minutes and both jumping and wave riding counted.

The riders taking part in the first mission of the contest were Ricardo Campello, Victor Fernandez Lopez, Boujmaa Guilloul, Thomas Traversa, Marcilio Browne, Daniel Bruch, Ricardo Campello, Philip Köster, Kai Lenny, Robby Swift and Julien Taboulet. Philip Köster was unable to compete due to a twisted ankle and will miss the rest of the contest.

All of the riders showcased amazing skills and determination in the monster winds and on the huge waves, but only six of them advanced to the next mission. The six riders that will wait for the next Force 10 or above storm are: Thomas Traversa (FRA), Daniel Bruch (GER), Julien Taboulet (FRA), Marcilio Browne (BRA), Victor Fernandez (ESP) and Robby Swift (UK). There was no winner of the first mission, but Thomas Traversa scored highest overall on the day.
