Gaastra Cross 2011

Gaastra Cross 2011

Sail type: Freeride
Brand: Gaastra

Windsurfing is about achieving ultimate performance but also about having fun out on the waves. There are riders who love extreme drives and perform hardcore tricks and riders who love a relaxing cruise. The 2011 Gaastra Cross is the kind of sail which can handle all of these needs. It is quite powerful and fast so it can be used by advanced riders, but it is also forgiving and fun to ride so it suits perfectly a less experienced rider. The new Cross replaced the popular Remedy, but it offers better speed, power and handling. It is perfect for freeride.

The sail uses a reduced luff length which generates a good power delivery and improves handling, while the higher foot cut makes waterstart easier and improves jibing performance. A new profile allows it to generate smooth power and keeps it loaded and ready to tackle any wave. The sail provides a constant and consistent power delivery and it is very fun to ride. The new profile works together with the wider head to generate instant acceleration and assure a smooth and fast top speed. Gaastra has designed the Cross using a no cam six composite tube battens skeleton. This structure keeps the sail very stable and allows the rider to control it without effort.

The Cross can handle light and strong winds as well as big waves and flat waters with ease. It is one of the most reliable freeride sails today. The Gaastra Cross is available in 4.8 up to 7.4 square meters sizes and comes with Vario or fixed head, depending on size.

The Cross is Remedy's successor. I thas better top end and it is much more fun to use in lightwinds. It feels a bit heavy at first, but it is really stable. It can get you planning quick and easy. Runs great in flat waters....more
