One of the best freestyle sails I've used so far. It is very light and you can do anything with it. It gives you plenty of power, yet it is quite forgiving. I'm no pro rider, but with this sail I could win some contests for sure :)...more
Gaastra Pure 2012
The 2012 windsurfing season brings a new line of Gaastra sails. The new sail models are constructed taking into consideration the suggestions of worldwide users as well as those of pro riders. All sails are crafted according to the highest quality standards and intended to offer top performance. The 2012 Pure is one of the best freestyle sails ever. It can be used by casual riders who love to perform amazing tricks, but it is actually a powerful weapon for world class freestyle competitions.
The sail is very powerful and agile, yet user friendly and easy to handle. It can be used by both men and women who are dedicated to the freestyle cause. Gaastra has built the Pure using an X-Ply radial panel layout which significantly improves durability and adds extra twist control. Additional monofilm panels improve overall durability and lower the weight. A narrow outline combined with a higher clew position assures precise control in all conditions. The overall control is also improved by the high aspect ratio. Gaastra has uses a stiffer leech and a shorter boom plus an optimized flat profile to provide the rider with instant acceleration and a fast top speed.
The Gaastra Pure uses a no cam four or five battens skeleton, depending on size. This structure keeps the foil well balanced and makes the sail very stable. All Pure models use a fixed head. Dedicated freestylers rely on high performance gear, and the new 2012 Gaastra Pure offers the ultimate performance. The sail is available in 4.0 up to 6.0 square meters sizes and the recommended masts are Gaastra 75 and 100 RDM, depending on sail size.
