Located in the Indian Ocean, east of Madagascar and southwest of Mauritius, Reunion is a French island, one of the overseas departments of France. On the island of Reunion you will find the commune of Saint-Leu, and to be more precise, you will find the commune on the west side of the island.

Now that you know where Saint-Leu is located, here are the main details you need to know about should you pick this destination to get your kiteboarding fix:

The best months to go to Saint-Leu for wind are April, May, June, July, August, and September. You can also go in October, November and December – these are not the best months, but they can prove to be pretty good.
The wind in Saint-Lieu can be pretty gusty. It blows from the SE (side shore, side offshore) at speeds that vary from Force 4 up to Force 6.

The water conditions are suitable for advanced and expert riders.
The water temperature in the summer is high enough so that you don’t need a wetsuit. Make sure to protect yourself from the burning sun.
Go riding at high tide only. If you go riding at low tide, you will definitely lose fins.
