Trimming the Kite

Trimming the Kite

Trimming the kite refers to the techniques needed to regulate its power. When you move the control bar up and down the trim bar you actually change the angle at which the kite flies at and the power it delivers.

Pulling the bar also pulls the trailing edge down and creates a larger surface exposed to the wind, thus making the kite deliver more power. When you let go of the control bar or push it away from you, the kite positions itself forward and the power delivery is reduced.

If you unhook from the trim loop, you can move the bar further towards the kite, depowering it even more.

Remember to regulate the kite’s power to minimum when launching on when you are on land. This way the kite will fly further to the edge of the window and you will get better upwind performance.
