The Ultra is part of the Axis light wind twin tip collection. It sits in the same class with the Patrol and it features a similar shape, but it is lighter and offers better reaction to rider input. The fact that it is lighter and more reactive boosts overall performance in lighter winds and allows you perform all sorts of tricks and not just riding from one point to another.

If you want to turn dull, light winds into a fun and stylish kiteboarding session, you should try the Axis Ultra. Unlike other light wind twin tips, the Ultra packs some serious pop and it’s extremely agile. The wider profile, with a slightly parallel outline assures excellent early planing abilities and improves its maneuverability. The board features a flatter rocker to ensure a fast glide and superior upwind performances.

A slight dual concave bottom shape provides a nice stability and reduces drag to make your ride faster and smoother. The Axis Ultra runs fast in lighter winds and has a good load and pop ability. It takes of easily and allows you perform lots of tricks with little power from the kite.

It is built using a strip planked Paulownia wood core, complemented by Biaxial lightweight carbon with additional Uni carbon reinforcing laminates. The carbon layers provide a very lightweight board with very powerful flex for huge pop and incredibly soft landings. This structure is completed by a scratch resistant TPU foil top and bottom sheet.

I just came from a demo session near Perth. They had the 2014 Axis boards for demo. I tested the Ultra in 12 knots and choppy water. Not great conditions, but the board is solid. After riding it for about 20 mins, I can say that it planes quickly and...more
