Naish Torch 2014 Kite Review
Kite Features
The Torch has always been one of the best C-Kites on the market. Well, if you are a C-kite fan, you won’t be disappointed by the new 2014 Torch. Packed with new tech features, the Torch offers the highest freestyle performance you can find in a C-kite. It offers a fast flight with precision response for hooked in and unhooked riding and more. As the guys at Naish say, the Torch is the #1 kite of choice for dedicated freestyle and unhooked wave riders.
Power, control, stability and speed are just a few of the things that make the Torch one of the most versatile freestyle and unhooked wave machines today. It is engineered using a C-shape proven airframe design which is able to generate maximum pop and lift. The non-swept outline aligns the center of effort with the tow point to distribute the load evenly and generate power in turns.
The horizontal seam shaping of the Power Foil Canopy generates instant lift. The new reduced diameter struts provide better low end power and superior handling. The Torch features an evolutive profile design. This means that the profile’s depth and shape evolves along the airfoil. The center sections generate power and speed and the tips are optimized for fast turns. Due to this design, the kite does not stall and has virtually no drag. The angle of attack on the wing tips has been increased. This keeps them actively engaged, so, when bar input is added, the wing tip instantly reacts and produces drag, while the opposite wing tip instantly accelerates to assure quicker turns.
The Torch also provides the rider with a solid unhooked control and a direct bar feel. It is not only powerful and easy to control, but also easy to depower and relaunch. It is built using a light, yet robust construction. Every strut is attached to a frame of heavy duty Dacron that is then sewn onto the canopy for unmatched resistance to wear and heavy loads.
