Ozone Catalyst 2011 Kite Review
Kite Features
Ozone is one of the most acclaimed kite manufacturers today. That is because their team puts a lot of effort and passion in the development of any new model it releases on the market. The 2011 Catalyst is built on versatility and usability, two principles which make it a great all round performer for any rider out there. The Ozone Catalyst is a SLE shaped kite, which features a refined outline.
This slick profile allows it to fly smoothly and drag free, in any wind conditions. The kite has plenty of power, but it is super stable and offers fast turns and enhanced steering due to the use of a three strut configuration featuring a center strut. A four line setup assures that the rider has a responsive control and can easy maneuver the kite. A great thing about the Catalyst is that it comes with custom graphics. The rider can choose to personalize the kite depending on his wishes and can really stand up in the crowd.
The 2011 Ozone kite lineup is quite impressive. The new models blend the successful features of the previous ones with new technology and concepts to take kiteboarding to new levels. The 2011 Catalyst has a perfect mix of usability, power and speed and it is intended to offer all round performance for all the riders out there. Either they love freeride, freestyle, racing or wave riding and no matter if they are beginners or advanced and experienced, they all can enjoy a great session with this kite.
The Catalyst is easy to power up due to the One pump system. This feature allows the rider to quickly inflate the kite and spend more time on the water than on the beach. Once powered up, the kite becomes light and agile and it is very responsive. The kite is operated through a four line system whitch has no pulleys, so steering is very easy and precise. The improved strut configuration significantly increases the kite’s stability and makes it very reliable in all wind conditions. The innovative Contact Water Control System improves overall efficiency, and if it happens to crash the kite, the Easy on the Back Line system makes relaunch a piece of cake. At the same time the Catalyst features a total depower option for extra safety. The kite has plenty of power to offer nice lifts, jumps and top speed, but it is easy to use and forgiving at the same time. A great thing about the Ozone Catalyst is that it has several trimming options. These options allow the rider to tune the bar pressure and maneuverability as well as the power delivery, so every rider can choose the perfect setting to suit his style and skill level.
At a quick look at the construction technology we can see that the Catalyst features Dacron reinforcements in wearable areas like LE and struts, reinforced trailing and leading edge, double stitched seams and the canopy body is made from top quality Teijin Techno Force. This construction assures that the kite is very light yet robust and solid at the same time. The Ozone Catalyst is available in 4 up to 14 meters sizes and three unique color schemes.
