Ozone Zephyr 2012 Kite Review
Kite Features
When the wind barely blows and keeps all the kiteboarders on the beach, it’s time to launch the Zephyr. The Zephyr is Ozone’s solution for marginal wind conditions. It is a lightwind specific kite designed with a high performance profile and a focus on weight saving. The kite is optimized for riders that want to experience an amazing ride in less than 10 knots or for heavier riders that need a larger kite with a huge wind range.
The Zephyr is not the usual lazy, slow turning large lightwind kite. Not at all. It is a powerful machine which generates optimal power for huge lifts and awesome kiteloops, while it moves quickly through the widow and feels direct and precise. The relaunch has been optimized to work without flaw in lightwind conditions also. Just turn the bar fully to one side and the kite rolls over onto its tip.
Even if the wind picks up, you still don’t need to worry, because the Zephyr is stable and predictable. A tight radius turn generates excellent pop, while the no pulleys bridle assures direct handling and extra safety. The 4-Line Pulleyless System through which the kite is operated reduces set up time and eliminates checking your lines twice. The tip struts of the Zephyr have been moved forward to increase turning speed and prevent flutter.
The tip shape has been refined in order to offer constant pressure when depowering, as well as quicker turning speed. The aerofoil sections are designed to give more performance whilst reducing drag making the kite faster and smoother in the air. The kite features the total depower option which can kill the power delivery in an instant. The Narrow optimally designed diameter leading edge tube and struts decrease drag and assure a stronger structure.
