Switch Kites Combat2 2013 Kite Review
Kite Features
The Combat2 excels in technical performance and can easily handle extreme riding. This is the weapon of choice for Marc Jacobs, one of the most powerful kiteboarders in the world, a reputable wakestyler and freestyler that is always pushing the boundaries of the sport to new levels. You can imagine that if he rides this kite, it is because it delivers no compromise, competition grade performance. Extreme power, huge pop, rock solid stability and predictable line slack are just a few of the features that make the Combat2 such an awesome kite.
The Combat2 is not a kite for amateurs or weekend riders. It is a kite built especially for the seasoned and experienced rider that requires world class performance and competes in challenging events. Every aspect of the new Combat2 is optimized to deliver exceptional wake and freestyle performance.
It is a C-Kite, so you can imagine that it delivers impressive loads of power and huge pop, plus a direct and very precise control. Each size of the Combat2 has been optimized for specific performance. The 7 meter model is a perfect looping and handle pass machine in storm conditions. The 11 meter model features superior line slack performance and it is faster turning. The 9, 13 and 15 meter models feature a higher aspect platform with longer wingtips for a bigger boost.
Four layered internally glued Monofilm stiffeners placed strategically on the training edge form a flow control system that prevents flutter and flapping. The high aspect ratio of the Combat2 assures huge pop plus excellent power retention and a direct control. The five strut configuration keeps it steady in all conditions.
The canopy is supported by a defined constant curve strut design without any flat sections. This feature makes the kite rigid and significantly reduces drag. Switch has used inflatable wingtips to reduce overall weight and allow the kite absorb impacts without suffering any damage.
