New World Record for the Virgin Kitesurf Armada

Hundreds of kitesurfers gathered in Cape Town on the 30th of January for the Virgin Kitesurfing Armada event, with a clear goal: to break the record for the ‘Largest Parade of Kitesurfers’, held by the Spain event until now.

And the kitesurfing community proved to be up to the challenge. A total of 415 kitesurfers rode the Cape Town waterway between Dolphin Beach and Doodles, setting a new world record. The event lasted for around three hours and it was awesome.

At  the end, Dan Charlish, Kitesurfing Armada director stated: “We always hoped the Kitesurfing Armada in Cape Town would be spectacular – and it didn’t let us down. It was an amazing day, the wind couldn’t have been better and the view of hundreds of kiters together in front of Table Mountain was awesome. A huge thank you to everyone who came down, got involved and made the event such a success!’”
