The 2009 Edge already was a properly good kite – proof of that is the fact that it helped many Ozone riders stand on the top step of racing podiums, and the fact that it satisfied the demands of big air boosters. What Ozone did with the 2010 Edge kite is this: the kite manufacturer made it better. According to Chip Wasson and Adam Koch, who thoroughly tested the kite, the performance, at least on the race side, has increased by at least 30%.
Here’s what Ozone did to get that performance increase:
- Modified planform to increase the lifting area and reduce drag at the tips.
- The kite has better low end power and is more stable because it has a larger diameter leading edge.
- Improved air performance and efficiency is provided by a higher aspect ratio.
- More power is generated by a new aerofoil section.
Here’s what Adam Koch has to say about the 2010 Edge: “With more power in the low end and super responsive turning speed the new edge is everything you want and more. Maneuvers are very predictable and downwind speed increased to leave you with your focus on the race and not on finding your groove.”
Ozone’s tagline for the 2010 Edge kite is “ultimate performance”.
