About
Since Julie was born on the 12th of December 1983, that means she has recently turned 29. She has two nationalities, French and Turkish, so it’s no wonder she likes Turkish and French cuisine. Julie grew up in Paris, France, went to South Carolina for college, lived in Puerto Rico for a while where she ran a dog walking business and a vacation rental business, and now she returned to France where she is currently in the process of launching a business. Julie minored in German languages (French, English, German, and Spanish) and has a Bachelor of Science in International Business. Julie started to kiteboard more than 8 years ago, back in November 2002. She recounts that she got started in Cabarete, Dominican Republic, which is one of the best kiteboarding spots in the world. Before that she was a big fan of windsurfing. Teaching others to kiteboard was a pleasurable experience, Julie recounts. She says that she really enjoyed watching her friends improve and felt motivated to coach them. “A little tip here, a little tip there... and suddenly it happens: they land that trick they were not even thinking about 1 hour ago!” said Julie. Julie’s tips for other riders: safety is very important. You should take lessons before you start to kite, you should watch out for dangers, and watching the occasional video can’t hurt. Once you get started, if you want to get better, you need to try new things. Don’t be afraid to push your skill to the next level.
