Hawaiian Lei SUP Relay Race 2012

Hawaiian Lei SUP Relay Race 2012

Period: May 20 - May 20, 2012
Location: Long Beach, United States

The Hawaiian Lei SUP Relay Race is organized by Aloha Sup Rentals and it is an event intended to a Long Beach animal rescue group. Lynne Loa, from Aloha Sup Rentals said: "Too many healthy dogs are put down because of overcrowding and rescue groups need our support to help save these dogs." Louise Montgomery, from Long Beach Animal Match Rescue adds: “It is heartbreaking that millions of animals are euthanized every year in the States, simply because there are not enough homes. Society remains ignorant to the solution to pet overpopulation so rescue groups like our try and save as many as we can.”

This is the first time that this race takes place, but organizers are sure that it will be a success and it will become an annual event. The Hawaiian Lei SUP Relay Race represents a relay race in which teams paddle 100-150 yards on Aloha Sup boards around a buoy with a lei around their neck. They paddle back to their teammates and pass the lei to them, until the last member of the team finishes the race. This is less a competitive event and more a fun race open to everyone.

The Hawaiian Lei SUP Relay Race takes place on the 20th of May, on the Peninsula, between Dana and 56th Place on the bay side in Long Beach, CA. To register for this race and find out additional detail, please follow this link.
