The Atlantic SUP Crossing Starts on the Wrong Foot

French athlete Nicolas Jarossay announced his attempt to cross the Atlantic Ocean on SUP last year. He would become the first man to perform such a stunt. However, the rider did not count on gear issues.

Nicolas launched into the ocean a couple of days ago on his custom made SUP board, but a few hours later the mission’s support team had to rescue him.

According to the press release, the custom board broke, rendering the mission incomplete: “For a reason that remains unknown at this point, the rudder system has suddenly broken and exposed the boat broadside to a flood. The boat capsized. All attempts to refloat were unsuccessful then more and more exhausting.”

However, we hope Nicolas can remedy the situation and continue his adventure in the days to come.
