Starboard athlete Sean Poynter is one of few guys who can standup paddle into a crowded lineup of aggressively pro-shortboard, anti-SUP locals on a pumping day, catch a wave, rip the lid off of it and by the time he kicks out, everyone else is facing serious questions about their equipment choices.

And there’s no denying, his equipment’s top knotch. That said, it’s not just the board he chooses or the method of wave riding he prefers. It’s the flow, aggression and attention to detail that make Poynter the SUP surfing ninja he is.
