In Search of Mana: The Story of Talia Decoite

Hailing from beautiful Maui, Talia Decoite grew up surrounded by the beauty of the ocean and water sports. She discovered SUP at an early age and felt in love with this exciting sport.

She became an ambassador for PrAna, one of the major action sports brands today and she started competing in world class events, proving she is a top athlete. At the age of 19, she claimed a world record win in the Molokai2Oahu Paddleboard World Championships in 2012, becoming the youngest woman to ever paddle the 32-mile Molokai to Oahu paddle board race on a team.

Unfortunately, while being at the top of her game, a mysterious illness threatened her life's passion and forced her re-evaluate the very thing that brought her joy. But she would not let the illness take her down. She continued to fight it, in search of ‘Mana’. ‘Mana’ is a form of healing energy in the Hawaiian culture.

And you can witness her efforts in the clip below, ‘Talia Decoite: In Search of Mana’. It is her emotional story of change and about preserving and embracing life.
