Firewire Introduces NanoTune Technology

Using cutting edge technology is the key to success when manufacturing high performance products. Firewire, a renowned surfing and kitesurfing board designer and manufacturing company, is using a new technology from now on when producing surfboards. The new technology is called NanoTune and it is intended to form a chemical bond with the rails and bottom deck of a surfboard in order to lower the surface energy of the material and increase the surface tension to create a super-hydrophobic barrier.

The new technology will significantly increase speed and maneuverability and prevent drag. Upon the treatment with NanoTune, the water drops bead on the surface and do not group together, without creating excessive friction. The NanoTune product remains effective for up to three months, and then it can be reapplied.

The NanoTune product will be available on the market in the next months. NanoTune Re-Tuning kits will be very easy to use and will be found at various surf shops. Firewire will not charge extra for the boards already treated with NanoTune.

A number of top 10 WCT Surfers will test the NanoTune product when it is release. Taj Burrow is among them.

Firewire officials stated: “FIREWIRE believes that refinements to the shape of today’s modern surfboards can only produce incremental performance benefits. Exponential improvements in performance require the ongoing development of new materials and construction methods, which, in turn, will fuel new design opportunities. “
