Marlon Lipke Is the 2012 ASP European Champ

Originating from Germany and currently residing in Lagos, Algarve, Portugal, Marlon Lipke is one of the most progressive surfers on the ASP scene. 2012 was a great year for the German/Portuguese rider, and it culminated with a great accomplishment: the 2012 ASP European champion title.

His wins at the WQS 3*Protest Vendée Pro and the WQS 3* Cabreiroa Pantin Classic Pro, a 9th place at the Sooruz Lacanau Pro and a 5th place at the San Miguel Pro Zarautz where enough for him to claim the title.

The 28 years rider sponsored by Protest, Vans, Oakley, SWOX Surf Protection, Gorilla Grip, Planet Sports and Nixon is stoked to win this incredible title. Here are his words: " I'm so stoked. I think this is a very important title for me at this stage of my career and to have a European trophy in my hands again after so long is very special. I think this European title race was very close and many of the other Europeans could have had me this contest, but luck was on my side and I think the hard work over the whole year has paid off.

I set myself a goal at the beginning of the year and that was to become European champion. I made it and I think it's a title that we should take more serious in the future. I think it's a title that should be pushed more like in other sports. I would like to dedicate this title to my lovely mother."
