The ASP PRIME Hang Loose Pro came to an end. The competition took place at Cacimba do Padre Beach, in Fernando de Noronha Island, Pernambuco, Brazil and it gathered some of the most talented riders from Brazil and from the entire world. Miguel Pupo (BRA) won the 2012 edition of the ASP PRIME Hang Loose Pro and earned the U$40,000 prize as well as 6,500 points. The 6,500 points put him in the first place of the ASP World Ranking 2012.

Miguel Pupo battled for the title against Jean da Silva (BRA) scored an 8.77 and a 7.33 on his two best waves in the final, but this was not enough to surpass Miguel Pupo. Miguel scored a record of 19.77 out of a possible 20 points and also obtained a perfect 10 point ride from the five judges in the semi finals against Ricardo dos Santos.

Miguel Pupo about his win: “To win a contest in Brazil is something that I really wanted to accomplish. I’m stoked to have won the Final against Jean (da Silva). He beat my friend (Gabriel) Medina yesterday (Friday) who got really upset. Medina’s mom told me I had to win the contest now to make up for it, so I’m even prouder.”
